Goodbye for now, Parade

On August 6th, after 21 previews and 169 regular performances, Parade ended it’s limited run on Broadway! Bringing in over $1.8 Million in its closing week, it set a new record for the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. The girls in my dressing room collected all the flowers we had gotten during our run and turned them into framed keepsakes! The entire company celebrated with a party at Refinery Rooftop. What an incredible story to have gotten to tell, and hopefully it won’t be for the last time…

It's Tony Time!

Th reviews are in, and Parade is a hit! Packed houses, sold out shows, and audiences learning about important American history. Going into Tony night the entire company was thrilled for the SIX nominations! Producers threw a party at The Brazen Tavern in Hell’s Kitchen, and when the Best Direction of a Musical category was being announced, you could have heard a pin drop. When Michael Arden’s name was announced, the entire bar went wild!!! The company couldn’t have been more thrilled for their fearless leader. When the show won Best Revival of a Musical a couple of hours later it was the cherry on top! Such an honor to be a part of this incredible show.

It's Opening Night!

After a whirlwind rehearsal process, a lightning fast tech, and a super secret recording on her birthday (more to follow about that later), opening night arrived in the blink of an eye! This incredible company has bonded since day one, and the presence of Neo-Nazis at the show’s first preview was a reminder of just how important it is to tell this story. Beth designed a special pin to commemorate this occasion and presented them to the entire company.

Back to Broadway!

Not much can compare to getting the phone call that says… you’re going back to Broadway! That happened for Beth in early 2023 when she found out she’d be appearing as Nina Formby (and others) and understudying Sally Slaton and Mrs. Phagan in Parade! Having seen the show at City Center in the fall of 2022 Beth was honored to get a chance to tell this incredibly important story with this stellar team. The show will be running at the Bernard B. Jacobs theatre through August 6th. You won’t want to miss it!

A Man of No Importance

Beth came back to NYC and immediately jumped into a wild fall standing by for three roles (Mare Winningham as Lily Byrne, Mary Beth Piel as Mrs. Grace, and Alma Cuervo as Oona Crowe) in ‘A Man of No Importance’ at Classic Stage Company. Director John Doyle’s final project as Artistic Director at this off-Broadway gem of a theatre was this re-envisioned piece from 2002. Doyle’s signature style of including actor-musicians and refining the piece to it’s most concise form made for a one-act masterpiece that wowed critics and audiences. Beth performed not only as Mrs. Grace, but also as “Elizabeth Lally” - stepping into a male role when covid hit the company! What an adventure!

Diana... A Dream Come True!

Beth checked off a bucket list role when she got the chance to perform as Diana in ‘Next to Normal’ at The Mac-Haydn Theatre in beautiful Chatham, NY. Coming right off the heels of Sweeney she entered into a lightning-fast rehearsal process for one of the most demanding roles in musical theatre. Thanks to the direction of Artistic Director John Saunders, and the luck of playing opposite one of her oldest friends, Eric Van Tielen, the show was a triumph. Next to Normal was nominated for 7 Berkshire Theatre Awards, including Beth as Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical!

Sweeney in the HEAT!

It’s been a year since Beth made her MUNY debut, so she couldn’t be more excited to be back with one of her all-time favorite musicals, Sweeney Todd! With record-high temperatures and a cast including Carmen Cusack, Ben Davis, and Robert Cuccioli, this show is going to be red-hot in more ways than one!

Mother Abbess is back!

Sixth time’s the charm when it comes to this beloved musical. Beth is overcome to be revisiting the role of Mother Abbess 17 years after she played it all across Asia. She’s older and wiser and the audience (and critical) response has been incredible. Come up to beautiful Brunswick, Maine to see the show at Maine State Music Theatre until the end of June!

A band of Merry People!

There’s nothing Beth loves more than creating new work, so it was an honor to be back at the Fulton for a 29-hour reading of ‘The Very Fractured Tale of Robin Hood’ where she played Friar Tuck! This hilarious romp made for a comedy-filled week with Robin’s band of Merry People! Look for the premier this summer at Maine State Music Theatre!

Another Sound of Music

Beth truly can’t escape this classic musical, nor does she want to! She’s thrilled to be in rehearsals at The Fulton Theatre in Lancaster, PA (11 years after originally doing the show here) playing her fourth role in her fifth production of ‘The Sound of Music’! You can see her as Frau Schmidt through the end of March!

Vero Beach's Carousel

Beth was lucky enough to spend the winter in Florida playing Nettie Fowler in ‘Carousel’ at the Riverside Theatre in Vero Beach. Playing the role that gets to sing '“June Is Bustin’ Out All Over” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone” was definitely on her bucket list. This gorgeous production had an actual working carousel onstage, and although it ended early because of Covid, it was a fantastic hit with audiences!

The Hills are Alive... Again!

For the first time since Covid-19 shut down theatre everywhere, Beth was thrilled to be back onstage performing again. August 3-9, 2021 she was seen as Sister Sophia in ‘The Sound of Music’ at the MUNY! The MUNY is the nation’s oldest and largest outdoor theatre and even has some famous trees onstage - the perfect place to perform during a pandemic! With a star-studded cast of 30 (not including the dozens of MUNY Teens) the music rang out over Forest Hills in the triumphant return of live theatre.

'Les Miserables' Take 3!

After ringing in the new year Beth was shocked but excited to get the call that someone (unfortunately) had been injured on the 2017 tour of ‘Les Miserables’. With three days notice she flew to Birmingham, AL and after a 3 year hiatus was back onstage after 3 days of rehearsal! She’ll be playing the Head Whore and understudying Madame Thenardier for the next few weeks! Always glad to be back on the barricade!

After saying goodbye to her Dolly family, Beth immediately turned right back around to join the ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Tour’ as Mrs. Gloop! This is truly a dream role for her - full of ridiculous comedy and German sausages! She’ll begin performing in Portland after rehearsing in Seattle,

"Hello, Dolly!" and goodbye NYC!

Beth was thrilled to start rehearsals today for the National Tour of ‘Hello, Dolly!’ She’ll be playing Mrs. Rose and understudying the legendary Betty Buckley as Dolly all over the country - and couldn’t be happier. Dolly is a dream role, and this production is gorgeous from top to bottom. Check out the website to see if it’s coming near you!
